How To Look Sexy Without Revealing Too Much

(Photo: Fashion Bomb Daily)

What is sexy? Is it a general aura of libidinous intentions? Or is it a more concrete set of moves designed to illicit fever from the unsuspecting public?  Maybe it’s just as simple as the clothes you wear.

There are some people who naturally exude that come-hither essence even in sweat pants, hair tie, and chillin’ with no make-up on. (Thanks, Rihanna!)  Then there are others who think the amount of skin they reveal is a direct correlation to their sexy factor. Is this true? Well, it doesn’t have to be.

If you’re tired of people recognizing you by your boobs instead of your face, there are ways to be and feel sexy without displaying the goods all at once.

Comfort Level

The first rule of sexy is to be comfortable. Always. And not just in your clothes. Be comfortable in your own skin. These things go hand-in-hand with confidence and there’s nothing sexier than a confident woman.

Balance

It’s not necessary to show legs, cleavage, and all your luscious curves in one shot. If you’re really feeling your thighs and want to rock a mini, balance it out with more material elsewhere, like a boyfriend blazer, a slouchy or riding boot, or a sweater. Even some funky tights can help offset that “I’m trying too hard” syndrome. Because remember, sexy doesn’t try, it just is.

Shoes

I should just end this point with that one word because really, it speaks for itself. But the truth is the right shoe can make damn near any outfit sexy. Invest in the classics (stiletto pumps in black, red, and nude) and treat yourself to new styles that you love. Don’t be afraid to be bold. And don’t forget your pedicure. You’re not doing your peep-toe heels any justice with chipped polish.

Jeans

Just take a moment to think about how many songs reference a woman wearing jeans and you’ll understand how sexy they are perceived to be. And the best thing about them is that the outfit possibilities are endless and half of your body is under wraps. The key is the fit. Tight is all good, but breathe! You must be able to breathe and sit and bend. Accentuate your curves, don’t murder them.

Fabrics

Play around with different materials. Rock a sheer shirt with a tank or bra underneath coupled with jeans (see # 4). How about some lace or (faux) fur? Incorporating interesting pieces into your wardrobe allows you to stand out without having everything out.

I think the message is clear. Nakedness doesn’t always equal sexiness. And you don’t have to reveal every part of your body to make a statement. Just remember, getting dressed is like having sex…confidence is key, anything goes in moderation, and of course, it must feel good! Oh yeah, don’t forget the stilettos!
