New Eats & Drinks: Vicolo, Atlantic Co, Kittery
Every Friday we take a peek at new restaurant and bar openings in Brooklyn.
Bay Ridge gets a taste of authentic Italy with this restaurant and pizzeria. Manning Vicolo’s wood-fired pizza oven is Neapolitan native Luigi Olivella, while Chef Bruno Milone, formerly of Marco Polo Ristorante, oversees a menu of classic Italian dishes that includes a truffle pasta finished tableside in a parmigiano wheel. 8530 3rd Avenue, Bay Ridge ristorantevicolo.com
Neighborhood café Ortine has transformed into Atlantic Co, a bar focusing on local brews and wines. Expect 13 beers, a cider and two local wines – white and red – on tap. Food will be locally-focused as well with a concise, frequently changing menu. 622 Washington Avenue, Prospect Heights facebook page
Another one of our fall preview spots graduates to the big time next week. Named for a coastal Maine town famous for its shipbuilding industry, seafood shack Kittery brings a taste of the Pine Tree State to Carroll Gardens. Chef Josh Moulton, who worked at Union Square Café and Monkey Bar, has fashioned a menu featuring clam chowder, lobster rolls and sustainable seafood sourced from the coast of Maine down to the Gulf of Mexico. 305 Smith Street, Carroll Gardens kitterybrooklyn.com
