Here it is folks, hot off the presses!  It's the Brooklyn Exposed 2012 Ultimate Guide to Thanksgiving in Brooklyn. Kings County restaurants are ready and eager to open their doors and kitchens to share some of their favorite Turkey Day dishes with you and yours. 


Left-Overs Come Early

Lassen & Hennigs 
Lassen & Hennigs, a 60+ year-old deli and specialty food store in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood has “the day after Thanksgiving” year around in one of their signature sandwiches, the Cranberry Park ($7.25).  A nice pile of roasted turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce is perfectly perched atop the ideal piece of bread that soaks up the holiday juices “just so” keeping the sandwich intact and manageable.  (114 Montague Street, Brooklyn Heights,  718-788-2121)

Momofuku Milkbar
Momofuku Milkbar’s Thanksgiving croissant has become a staple holiday favorite. Not merely a snack-sized croissant, it's filled with the goodness of Thanksgiving - turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. Thanksgiving wrapped in the butter flavor of flakey pastry? Thank you! Appropriately called “Thanksgiving Leftovers,” ‘sNice has created the ultimate fall sandwich for anyone who likes the “sides” on the Thanksgiving buffet. This vegan delight is chock full of sweet potato puree, roasted brussels sprouts, cranberry relish with a special appearance from Tofurkey.    Luckily for us this sandwich will available through January. This should be a delicious way for us to get our veggies in, especially when our appetites hit holiday chaos.  (315 5th Avenue, Park Slope, 718-788-2121)

Thanksgiving To-Go & Turkeys

You focus on cooking the perfect turkey and Applewood will concentrate on creating faultless side dishes for you to reheat: sweet potato puree or herbed new potatoes, roasted root vegetables, butternut squash soup, pecan stuffing, cranberry relish, and gravy. Prices range from $70 for two people to $285 for ten. Need a turkey? No worries, Applewood is offering uncooked, local, pasture-raised gobblers from Oink and Gobble for $4.75 per pound. Lassen & Hennigs
Not only is Lassen & Hennigs serving up a must-have Thanksgiving sandwich, but they also know how to offer up a full-on day of feasting with some worthwhile holiday grub. From soup to nuts, L&H has a long checklist of Thanksgiving options with just about any kind of pie known to Brooklynkind.  10-24 pound Bell & Evans Turkeys are up for grabs as well. Marlow & Daughters
“Birds of a feather flock together.” These broad breasted birds are raised from three New York State farms. At $8.05 per pound, these turkeys are pasture raised, hormone and antibiotic free, as well as vegetarian. Marlow & Daughters will be open Thanksgiving Day from 10am - 3pm. The Thanksgiving menu for this trendy catering and specialty prepared food store has two holiday dinner packages (Basic - $290 for 6, $560 for 12, Deluxe $390 for 6, $740 for 12). Both meals include a choice of shallot glazed ham or maple glazed roasted turkey, brussels sprouts with pomegranates and pancetta, stuffing, corn bread, Clementine cranberry sauce, and choice of pie. Up your meal to Deluxe and add roasted pumpkin with goat cheese and kale, four cheese mac n’ cheese, coffee cake and applesauce. An “a la carte” menu is also available for those who are a bit picky and choosy for their Thanksgiving feast (portioned for 6 or 12 people). (158 Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg 718-388-5188)

The folks are Brucie are ready to say “thanks” by doing all the work for you. If it’s turkey you want, then an organic Lancaster Turkey you will get ($8 per pound). Their signature Meatless Lasagna ($65) is up for grabs as well as Squash and Turkey Lasagna ($85) both serving 12 - 14 people.  For $55 a piece, 12 - 14 people can devour Brucie’s Mushroom and Walnut Stuffing, Corn Pudding, or Potato and Swiss Chard Gratin. Stuff your tummy a bit more with a choice of pie!!! For $50, Pecan and Brown Sugar, Apple and Cranberry, and the more untraditional but oh so yummy Key Lime Pie is up for grabs. Fort Reno
The staff at Fort Reno BBQ has solved the problem of how to cook an entire meal in a small NY kitchen…let them do it! Plus they are willing to deliver it to you on Thanksgiving Day. For $35 per person, your meal will include: smoked heritage turkey, mashed potatoes with caramelized onions, bourbon carrots, sausage stuffing, brussels sprouts with bacon and apple cranberry chutney. You can also include some of Fort Reno’s BBQ on your Thanksgiving table as their regular menu will also be available. Place your orders early to assure availability. The Meatball Shop 
The Meatball Shop will be closed on Thanksgiving but will be doing Thanksgiving specials Monday through Sunday (excluding Thursday) of that week. There will be a "Naked Ball" combo that comes with 2 stuffing balls, 3 turkey balls with gravy and a dollop of cranberry sauce ($7). Special sides ($5) include roasted brussels sprouts with roasted apples, maple pecans; mashed potatoes; and a persimmon salad with pomegranate vinaigrette. Lastly, the special ice cream sandwich ($5) will be pumpkin ice cream with pie crust cookies. Fluent City & Bedford Cheese Shop
Fluent City and Bedford Cheese Shop are pairing up for a Thanksgiving wine + cheese workshop.  For $65 per person you can wine and dine on Spanish and French cheeses and vino while learning the lush lingo. This is a limited edition class hosted as part of the Food For Thought campaign. Proceeds will go towards feeding 10,000 hungry New Yorkers this holiday season through the Food Bank for NYC. We cheated a bit, since you have to cross the bridge for this one, but we’re sure it will be worth the trip.

The Farm on Adderly: Culinary History of Thanksgiving
‘Historic gastronomist’ Sarah Lohman will host a meal inspired by the culinary traditions behind America’s favorite holiday. From gravy to green bean casserole, mashed potatoes to pumpkin pie, Sarah will trace our most-loved foods back to their original recipes and shed light on how the traditions we know and love came to be. Pre-Thanksgiving Class at Prospect
Should you brine your turkey? Put stuffing inside the bird? Which wines should you pair with the meal? All your questions will be answered at this class at Fort Greene newcomer Prospect three nights before the big day. Chef Kyle McClelland will help de-mystify Thanksgiving cooking and give you the confidence to pull off an amazing feast.

Dining Out

This Latin American-inspired French restaurant offers a few innovative takes on some traditional Turkey Day dishes. Chef Patrick Allouache will serve braised turkey and buckwheat flour tacos topped with pickled butternut squash and jalapenos. To make matters even yummier, bowls of butternut squash and red curry soup will be paired with a foie gras crouton. (259 Flatbush Avenue, Park Slope 718-484-4114)

Palo Santo
On Thanksgiving from 2pm-8pm Chef Jacques Gautier is hosting his annual Thanksgiving feast. Dig into a four-course prix fixe menu including one of Park Slope’s holiday favorites, heritage turkey braised in a spicy mole poblano. Adults $60, half price for children. The Farm on Adderly
The Farm on Adderly will be hosting four seatings this Thanksgiving (12:30pm, 3pm, 5:30pm, 8pm).  Patrons can also reserve a seat at the bar (1pm, 3:30pm, 6pm, 8:30pm). Watty & Meg
Watty & Meg is offering a little something for every type of diner.  A classic Thanksgiving dinner will be served all day from 12pm-9pm ($27 per person: free-range turkey and gravy, wild mushroom ravioli, mashed potatoes, hericot vert, roasted bussels sprouts, and cornbread stuffing). Prime Meats of Frankies 457 Spuntino
Frank and Frank will be featuring a special 3-course menu ($45 per person) inspired by traditional flavors and seasonal ingredients (heirloom squash soup, roasted turkey breast, confit turkey legs, candied sweet potatoes, roasted fall vegetables) all in addition to regular lunch and dinner menu items. Rosewater Restaurant
Chef Bret Macris is the brainchild of Rosewater Restaurant’s busiest meal of the year…Thanksgiving.  He has created a three-course meal for $68 per person. Reservations are going fast, so get your clan together and call to claim your seats! (787 Union Street, Park Slope 718-783-3800)

Celebrate iCi’s 9th Thanksgiving with them! Seating times are: 1:30, 3:30, 6, and 8:30pm. For $58 diners can enjoy a three-course meal including lobster bisque, rabbit ragout, heritage turkey, squash tortelli, nutella hot chocolate…just to name a few items. Rye Restaurant
Rye is offering up their classic Turkey Day dishes as well as some Rye favorites this November 22nd.  For $75 per person, diners can enjoy a prix fixe menu with a selection of sides and oysters a la carte. Maison Premiere
Swanky Maison Premiere is taking reservations for a $45 per person, three-course turkey dinner from 3pm - 9pm this Thanksgiving. Don’t worry, Maison Premiere will remain open until its usual 4am for those looking to “mingle” after their holiday meal. Reservations can be made at: (298 Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg, 347-335-0446)

Enjoy your Thanksgiving at this Michelin-starred Williamsburg favorite. Dressler’s Thanksgiving 2012 consists of a three-course dinner ($85 per person) with each course having a number of items to choose from. Decisions, decisions…white root soup or crab cake? Heritage turkey or pan seared salmon? Chocolate souflee cake or cranberry sorbet?  We will need a few more minutes. (149 Broadway, Williamsburg 718-384-6343)

Stone Park Café
Stone Park Café is doing whatever they can to assure that your Thanksgiving meal is delicious and memorable. “Thanksgiving To-Go” ($450 for 12 people) includes Chef Josh Grinker’s Turkey Two Ways with all of the fixings. Dining in Stone Park Café’s dining room will cost $65 per person. Appetizer choices include New England clam chowder, a shaved brussels sprout or roasted beet salad, hamachi tartar, braised pork belly, housemade linguine. Entrée choices include free range turkey (of course), red snapper, duck breast, vegetable pot pie and lamb chop. For an additional $8 per, a list of traditional Thanksgiving sides can be ordered. Step inside the Wythe Hotel’s restaurant Reynard and feast your eyes and stomachs on their cornucopia of Thanksgiving treats. Four and Twenty Blackbirds 
Just looking for dessert? Try one of Four and Twenty Blackbirds' signature pies: bittersweet chocolate pecan ($38), brown butter pumpkin ($35), salted caramel apple ($35) or salted honey ($35). Pick up Tuesday November 20th from 8am - 10am and 5pm - 7pm.
