December is a festive month filled with shopping, decorating and prepping for the upcoming Holidays. December also brings you Holiday-themed festivals, bazaars and fleas that provide alternative and creative shopping platforms. Just what are we getting at? Well, the folk who brought you Brooklyn Night Bazaar this past October 15 at Dekalb Market are doing it again, but this time you’ll have to trek to the other side of Brooklyn – Williamsburg to be exact. Just in time for the Holidays, Brooklyn Night Bazaar returns for a three-day fete (December 15-17) inside a 40,000 sq foot waterfront warehouse.
Brooklyn Night Bazaar will house more than one hundred of Brooklyn’s most creative vendors, musicians, chefs, artists and breweries. In other words, you can revel in shopping, eating, drinking and live music performances all night long. Expect to gorge on food from Le Comptoir, Luke’s Lobster and Asia Dog and wash it down with Brooklyn Brewery beer and Brooklyn Winery wine. Shop for friends and family at Kill Devil Hill, Sit and Read, Dalaga and others. Psyched yet? Good, get more psyched because you can also check out the debut of Julien deSmedt’s custom furniture designs, which transforms the space with custom furnishings and sculptural lighting features, see a Mezzanine periscope designed by Tomorrow Lab, watch onsite tattoo demonstrations by skater/artist Canyon, view curated video art projections and live cinema from Nuit Blanche NY (founders of the Bring to Light Festival in Greenpoint), and indulge on a sidewalk pig roast by Tim Laursen.
Entrance to the venue will be free, but you must purchase tickets to see the stellar lineup of performances. Kicking off the first night, DJ James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem will be spinning on the ones and also check out performances by Poolside, The Crystal Ark Party Machine, Midnight Magic and DJ Justine – all curated by DFA Records ($22). December 16 entails an evening of music curated by the infamous music blog BrooklynVegan and will include Fucked Up, Big Troubles, Radical Dads, Caged Animals, Frankie Rose (DJ Set) and Bill Pearis ($10). Headlining December 17 is The Hold Steady with Titus Andronicus, Wakey!Wakey! and w/o ($18).
The attendance at this 3-day holiday-inspired, all-out shopping, indulging and music-fueled event is sure to top the 5,000 individuals who attended back in October. You definitely don't want to miss out, so be sure to mark your calendar!
