Late Guest (at the Party)
Combining elements from different genres since they started out in 2002, eclectic Italian group Late Guest at the Party have always been able to cross several geographical and musical borders with their unique sound made of well-read electro lashes, engaging beats and catchy anthems, all permeated by a peculiar r'n'r DNA and 90's brit-pop / rave hints. Lauded for years by press and the web as next big thing and pioneers for every forthcoming musical wave, they were signed for the first time in late 2007 after music guru Steve Lamacq broadcasted their song We Were Young on Radio BBC One and suggested their demo as one of the best of that year.
They're first album Come Back Bobby Peru was released in 2009 by 42 Records, one of the best-known Italian indie labels. It was produced by Giacomo Fiorenza (Italian indie's grey man since the dawn of time) and mastered by Alan Douches (LCD Soundystem, Liars, Converge, Sufjan Stevens, just to name a few). The album received enthusiastic reviews and quite a lot of a buzz, with articles appearing in Rolling Stone and worldwide airplay for the single from the BBC to smaller indie radio stations in the New York area. LGATP promoted the album by hitting the road for almost two years playing shows everywhere from the biggest venues in Italy to smallest bars with their energetic and absorbing sound. During this time, the band had tracks featured on various compilations distributed by the many prominent Italian blogs and press, a series of remixes and a digital EP in late 2010 with b-sides and demos from the upcoming release.
In 2011 LGATP relocated to NYC to record a new album produced by Chuck Brody (Peter Bjorn and John, Shy Child, Bear Hands, Ra Ra Riot, Wu Tang Clan) and featuring collaborations with artists such as Kenan Bell, Hesta Prynn, Randy Shrager(Scissor Sisters) and Slam Donahue. The lead single, You Make Me Nervous, will be released digitally on August 16 by NYC's Reynold's Records as a taste in anticipation of the new forthcoming record.
