The atmosphere at Sud is perfect for the warm spring evenings we’ve been experiencing. This Italian restaurant on Bedford just south of the Bedford-Nostrand G train stop was converted from an old church office. Rich wood floors and warm, painted walls give the single room an inviting feel. Dining as a social experience is stereotypically Italian, and Sud’s offerings include mostly small plates that are suited for sharing. There are some more substantial pastas that are the closest thing to an entrée on the menu, but nothing is too overwhelming or intimidating. The menu has a rustic feel, but it’s definitely dressed up a bit; simple creations neatly presented.
